International Tutor Training Program Certification
The Academic Success Center Peer Tutoring Program is certified by the College Reading and Learning Association’s (CRLA) International Tutor Training Program Certification (ITTPC). Tutors in our program participate in a rigorous training within their first two semesters that qualifies them for the CRLA ITTPC level 1 tutor certification. This level 1 certification allows the program to require and ensure a level of professionalism, mentoring abilities, and experience from our tutors that, in turn, ensures students receive a high quality level of tutoring and support.

Tutor of the Year 2023-2024
Tisha Kothari
Tisha Kothari has tutored Economics in the Student Success Center since Fall 2023. Tisha has been described by her tutees as patient, understanding, detailed, and supportive. While discussing her encouraging attitude and reliability, one student said, “Tisha is always on time and prepared having reviewed the materials I send in advance. Every time I walk into the center, she has a big smile on her face and a welcoming attitude.”
When discussing her ability to assist tutees in becoming independent learners, one student said, “She provides examples and asks questions while I work through the first few problems, guiding me. Then I can do the work on my own with a better understanding.” Another student said, “I always felt more confident about concepts after our tutoring sessions. She creates a safe space where mistakes are okay. I look forward to going to tutoring. I didn’t like the subject at the beginning of the year because I thought it was boring and confusing, but I now absolutely love Econ, and I am doing great in the class.”
In addition to tutoring in the center, Tisha has recently started co-facilitating the University’s College Reading and Learning Association International Tutor Training Program. She completed her own training in Fall and jumped in as a facilitator this semester, already contributing ideas to improve the program.
